Propane Refills and Services: Your Questions Answered

At LP+, our goals include educating our customers so they can make the best decisions. 

That’s why we’ve put together this helpful FAQ section to answer your most common questions about propane tank refills, pricing, safety, and more.

Whether you're a first-time customer or a long-time propane user, our goal is to ensure that you have the information you need for a smooth, affordable, and reliable propane experience. If you don't find the answer you're looking for here, feel free to contact us directly!

  • LP+ accepts, cash, major cards, and mobile pay, but cash is preferred as it saves us a processing fee allowing us to keep prices competitive.

  • Absolutely, we weigh your cylinder to determine how much we are putting in and only charge you for what we pump.

  • LP+ does not sell hose or regulators.

  • LP+ currently offers a blend of new and used cylinders. Please message for availability.

  • Yes, LP+ has a phone number, however, the line is not monitored. The message you will hear answers many of the frequent questions. If the message doesn’t answer your question, and you can’t find your answer in the FAQs, please send us an email and we will get back to you shortly. Remember, we want to be pumping propane not working the phone. Thank you for understanding!

  • LP+ does not deliver residential propane.

  • Absolutely, we weigh your cylinder to determine how much we are putting in and only charge you for what we pump.

  • LP+ stocks valves for DOT cylinders from 5 pounds to 100 pounds. Most valves can be replaced while you wait. Special orders are available if a valve is needed for a specific application.

  • LP+ is registered with the DOT to requalify cylinders. The cost is $5 per cylinder, 20 pounders we do at no cost.

  • A cylinder can not be transported without a cap or collar. LP+ can sell you a cap or collar and is happy to refund the purchase when you bring it back.

  • Coleman cylinders are a DOT-39 tank, which means they are single use and cannot be refilled. LP+ will fill Flame King 1 pound cylinders. The cost to fill those is $2 and we also sell them for $19 which includes the first pound of propane.

  • We can refill propane tanks of various sizes, including those for grills, RVs, heaters, food trucks, and forklift purposes.

    The Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates the manufacturing and safety of all propane tanks that can be transported via road or rail. We only refill tanks that are compliant, and meet the safety standards set by the DOT. This does not include cylinders such as 1lb disposable cylinders or cylinders that have not met requalification or recertification.

  • Our refill prices are some of the most competitive in Green Bay. Pricing depends on the size of your tank, but we guarantee that refilling is more cost-effective than exchanging your tank. Take a look at our pricing to get a feel for what it will cost to fill your tank.

  • Yes! We pride ourselves on fast and efficient service, so you can get your tank refilled while you wait. No appointment is necessary.

  • Our hours are:

    Sunday - Closed

    Monday - 9 AM–5 PM

    Tuesday - 9 AM–5 PM

    Wednesday - 9 AM–5 PM

    Thursday - 9 AM–5 PM

    Friday - 9 AM–5 PM

    Saturday - 9 AM–12 PM

    LP Plus is closed on Major Holidays.

  • Refilling your tank is generally much cheaper than exchanging it. When you exchange, you often don't get a full tank, while refilling ensures you get every pound you're paying for.

  • We specialize in propane refills, not exchanges. Refilling your tank allows you to keep your existing tank and is usually more cost-effective.

  • Propane tanks must be recertified 12 years after their manufacture date and every 5 years after that. Check the date stamped on the collar of your tank, or bring it in, and we’ll be happy to check for you.

  • Yes, we refill propane tanks for RVs, whether you're preparing for a road trip or just refilling between stops.

  • No, we refill tanks of all sizes and can accommodate both residential and commercial needs.

  • Propane tanks should always be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, or freezing temperatures. Never store propane tanks indoors or in enclosed spaces.

  • We weigh your tank before and after the refill to ensure you’re getting a full tank. If you suspect your tank isn’t full, you can bring it back, and we’ll check it for you.

  • If you smell propane, leave the area immediately and avoid using any electrical switches or open flames. Call your local fire department or emergency services from a safe location. For minor leaks, contact a licensed professional for repairs.

  • Yes, we offer inspections to ensure your tank is safe for refilling. If your tank is outdated or unsafe, we’ll let you know what steps to take next.
